If Unify Enterprise has encountered an issue installing the SQL server automatically, the SQL server must be installed manually. Click here to download SQL Server 2008 R2 SP 1 installer and select the SQLEXPR_x64_ENU file. If you have the 32 bit computer, select SQLEXPR_x86_ENU.Exe
The download will take about 5min depending on your internet connection speed.
How to install the SQL Server (Part 1)
Step 1: Run the installation file
Step 2: Extract the files
Step 3: Run the installer. Select New installation to install SQL Server 2008.
You will automatically proceed to the Setup Support Rules area.
The system is indicating that the computer needs to be restarted in order to successfully run the installer. Click Cancel.
Important: This is indicating that the current SQL Server 2008 installer must be removed deleted from the Click Yes and delete the installer from the Downloads folder in the system.
How to Install SQL Server 2008 R2 on Windows 8 (Part 2)
After the computer restart, download the installer again. After it is restarted, you will automatically proceed to this area:
Step 1: Setup Support Files
Click Next after this has been completed.
Step 2: Feature Selection
All boxes in Instance and Shared Features must be selected. Click Next.
Step 3: Instance Configuration
The installer will skip Installation Rules and will proceed automatically to the Instance Configuration. Rename the instance to “Unify” (all caps) and the Instance ID will dynamically change as well.
Step 4: Server Configuration
The installer will skip Disk Space Requirements and will proceed automatically to the Server Configuration.
In the SQL Server Browser Startup Type, modify it to Automatic (Unify Enterprise will use this to browse your system for the Unify Enterprise SQL instance you are creating).
Step 5: Database Engine Configuration
Authentication mode: Modify it to Mixed Mode
NOTE : We have to ask user to click on Add Current User here and then he can proceed further.
Step 6: Error Reporting
No modifications needed.
Step 7: Installation Progress
The installer will automatically skip the Installation Configuration Rules and proceed directly to the Installation Progress screen:
This will take about 3 min.
Step 8: Complete
Great! It’s installed.
Click CLOSE and close out of the SQL Server Installation Center
Starting Unify Enterprise
Click on the Unify Enterprise icon to run the Unify Enterprise software. It will immediately look for the SQL server (which was just created).
Log in to Unify Enterprise with the email and password used to create the account or add-on username.
Select the SQL Server authentication
