How to transfer product attributes as options in Bigcommerce using POS and Unify Enterprise

Let’s look at our Denim Shirt in POS to see what we are working with.   

This product has different sizes: M, L, XL and XXL, and each size has the same item name but a different quantity and item number, as shown in the picture below : 

 

Now let’s go into Unify Enterprise to begin transferring these attributes into Bigcommerce.

First go to the store configuration and select the products screen and select a matching data field (either Item number or ALU) in POS which will become the option SKU in Bigcommerce.  

While on the Unify Enterprise dashboard, go to the Products menu and select Export Bigcommerce options.

Search for the item you want to transfer and make your settings for Free Shipping & Option sets. Set the option name as to Size because these sizes define this product in POS.

  • Let’s not forget that we want to track inventory at the option level.

Click Ready to Export and the items will be marked Ready to transfer in the status area.

If you have additional attributes to transfer, you can search, select and configure the settings and click ready to export and it will be added as data within the export file. When all of your attributes are marked Ready to transfer click Export products and a CSV file will be generated.   

Note: You should put this file in a very accessible place for easy retrieval, because you will need it in the next step.

Now let’s go into Bigcommerce to import this CSV file.

In the Bigcommerce interface select the Products menu heading and select Import products.

Be sure to select the option to Bulk edit feature and then scroll down to import the file. Browse for the CSV file you created earlier. 

Click Next and then the Start importing button and wait for Bigcommerce to complete the import.

 

As soon as the import is complete, click on view imported products

Click on the product name and select the options tab and then the SKUs area to view the newly created options.

Now that this is done, we need to get a fresh download of products in Unify Enterprise. Go to the Products ->My Products area and click on Get products to re download your products.  

This allows Unify Enterprise to now recognize these attributes/options as the same in both Bigcommerce and POS.

We now have our base product (which sets the price) and its options (which hold the quantity). If you need to sync the price and/or quantity, go to the Synchronize products area to smoothly sync the option price or quantity if they are out of sync.
