If you have to switch the current company file, and you want to retain your current configuration settings you must follow these steps exactly.
To access this area, while on the dashboard select File->Manage stores then click Edit connection.
Step 1: Enter in the new company file into the QuickBooks Company File field and click test connection.
Step 2: Click Test QuickBooks Connection and a confirmation message will be displayed:
Step 3: Click OK then Next. When you click Next you will see this pop-up message. Click Yes.
Very important: Do not proceed to past the store settings screen.
Step 4: Click Cancel in the store settings screen.
Step 5: When prompted to cancel changes, click Yes.
You will be taken to the Manage Stores area.
- The store profile has been redirected to a new company file.
- Current store profile settings have been retained.
- Click on Configure and download new QuickBooks data and settings (as shown below).
- The settings in the Transaction, customers, products, shipping item and taxes may need to be adjusted based on the information in the new company file.
