Inventory Management: WooCommerce and variant products

In WooCommerce variant items are connected to a master SKU that will act as the display item (base).

Attributes
WooCommerce is able to create all the different combinations that can be created for the attribute sets for the variations of an item.

Attribute sets (Size, Color) must be created prior to creating variant products.  Variants are always tied to specific attributes within a set.

Single attribute set

Double attribute set

Variations
Each variation combination has its own SKU.

Variations have individual SKUs which allow the variation to function like a simple product.  Each variation can have its own quantity, price or other data such as weight and dimensions.

This allows the product to be displayed as a product with options that can be selected.

Since the variation functions like a simple product, the variation can be synchronized with its corresponding product in QuickBooks.  Click here to learn more.
