How do I transfer products using eCC Desktop? (POS)

To transfer a product means to create the product in a particular area. In the QuickBooks POS integration, products can be either transferred from either:

  • From the online store to QuickBooks POS
  • From QuickBooks POS to the online store


Transferring Best Practices

  • Products cannot be transferred from QuickBooks POS into Amazon or eBay
  • For most shopping carts, products cannot be transferred into the online store as variations, options or configurable products. 
  • Products can be transferred from QuickBooks to the online store as simple products or base products only. 
  • Products options/variations/configurable must be created in the online store manually and created in the online according to the matching criteria settings within the store configuration.

Transferring to QuickBooks

Select a product which is in the online store, which should be transferred to QuickBooks POS. 



Product information
The product information is information populated from the data that is in the online store for a product.  

  • Item name: Online store item name
  • Item Description: this field can only be transferred once during this transfer process.  If the online store product description is modified in the online store after a product has been transferred to QuickBooks POS, it will not be updated in QB POS. 
  • Attribute/Size/UPC/ALU: fields unique to QuickBooks POS (ALU, UPC) can be manually entered if it is to populated in QuickBooks POS. 
  • Item image: images can be transferred along with the product.  Images must be stored on the local system and browsed.  Images are not directly transferred from the online store directly. 
  • Price: Markup price
  • Cost: Manufacturer's price 


Additional information required for QuickBooks

This is information that is needed to properly create the product within the QuickBooks POS environment. 

  • Item type: the product will be created as an inventory/non-inventory or service item.  This can only be done once and 
  • Department name: this is the department that the product, once created in QuickBooks POS will be attached to.  This can also be modified after the product has been created. 
  • Tax code: Is the product taxable or not?
  • Preferred Vendor: If there is a vendor for this product it can be selected from a list of vendors.  This information is not mandatory and can be selected after the product has been created in QuickBooks POS. 


Once this information has been entered for a product.  Click Save and the product status will be changed to Ready to Transfer.  Then click Transfer Product to create the product in QuickBooks POS. 



If you need to transfer multiple products, a group of products can be marked Ready to Transfer and then can be created in QuickBooks POS in batches. 






Transferring to online store
Select a product which is in QuickBooks POS, which should be transferred into the online store.



Edit Selected Product
The product information is information populated from the QuickBooks POS data for a product into fields applicable within the online store interface. 

  • SKU#/Model Name: the alpha-numerical designation of a online store product
  • Product Name: the customer facing name of the product in the online store
  • Description: this field can only be transferred once during this transfer process.  If the QuickBooks POS item description is modified in the QuickBooks after a product has been transferred to the online store, it will not be updated in the store.
  • Price: Markup price
  • Cost: Manufacturer's price 
  • Quantity: current quantity level of a product
  • Weight (lbs): this area is not mandatory and can be modified in the online store after the product has been transferred
  • Item image: images can be transferred along with the product.  Images must be stored on the local system and browsed.  Some online stores aren't able to have images transferred with a product.  Check the feature list individual store details. 


Additional information required for store

  • Free shipping: product level shipping trigger which can be modified after the product has been created in the online store
  • Taxable: is the product taxable or not?
  • Manufacturer: transfer product to specific manufacturers in the online store
  • Attribute set/Item Status/Item Visibility: online store specific fields which is different per store
  • Category: categories that are contained in the online store can have products transferred direct to a specific category. 

Note: If you have multiple categories, in order for eCC Desktop to recognize these categories, a product must be attached to each category manually within the online store.  


Once this information has been entered for a product.  Click Save and the product status will be changed to Ready to Transfer.  Then click Transfer Product to create the product in the online store. 



If you need to transfer multiple products, a group of products can be marked Ready to Transfer and then can be created in the online store in batches.
